Summer came and went

Where did the summer go and what did I do. SOOOOO much. It was a great summer. I only ended up camping once but it was a good one. I went to PARIS! Which was gorgeous, romantic, rich in foods and simply breathtaking.  I wish I had time to post highlights of my summer but I can only suggest to check out all my photos since May on Flickr. It was a good summer in Seattle.
Well June, July and August have passed and I never posted anything. I assure you I had some fun times but nothing really note worthy...until now. PARIS! I leave for Paris tomorrow evening at 6:10pm! This is where I'm staying with

What happened in May, you ask? Or didn't ask.

Image
Its been a while since I posted here. May was an insanely busy but AMAZING. There was the Highline High School fundraiser dinner. I never recalled my high school having fundraisers and since I don't have kids, I told Carinna I would join her for her school's fundraiser auction/dinner. It was fun, I won a bottle of nice wine and 3 of us bid on the "Taste of Highline dinner" where several moms and staff would make meals passed down from their families. We were able to invite up to 10 friends. There was Italian, Somalian, Soul, Mexican, and Hawaiian. There may have been another but I forget. It was sooooo yummy and was hosted at a house that was on Lake Burien. They told us there may be a boat involved. The boat turned out to be a battery operated dock that quietly moved in the water. That was a riot. It was a beautiful evening with stories of the meals with some of my favorite seattle friends. The weather had finally taken a turn for the nicer so for my friend Sar

Very Proud of where I work.

Here is a brand new agency video More news: The most recent project I was a part of: SIFF . Well... I was a part of the print materials but still... I am VERY EXCITED to be a part of the SIFF team this year! And one last video: An older video with me doing jazz hands

Grey hair is NOT BAD!

Image
I don't think I'll ever be fully grey. As long as a color doesn't hit the scalp and it can dye on grey, I think I will always put colors in my hair but I would love to have my hair look like above. Like tearing out pages of a magazine, I use Pinterest as an online folder of snippets from magazine and blogs. Love it. Here are so far, some of my fair hair things I found online: http://pinterest.com/lilhoss/pretty-hair/

My dad is pretty adorable.

Too soon

Image
Marq.JPG , a photo by ::: a i m e e ::: on Flickr. It was too soon for you to go Marq. My heart aches for Kyle and Kaitlyn. I know you would have never of wished this heartache on them. I know my dad is really going to miss his buddy and I wish I could be there to hug everyone and comfort them during this difficult time. To my Galooper family, I'm with you in spirit. Love you and happy birthday Marq.

Little Hands Hossler

Image
Lil hands. , a photo by The_April on Flickr. What started as a halloween outfit, inspired by the singing sisters on SNL's Lawrence Welk skit, I wanted to creep people out with little hands. I love my tiny hands. Some friends love them and some get TOTALLY freaked out when they show up. Its easy for me to throw them in my purse from time to tome to entertain them.  Ingo and Josh shared the following new site with me. I prefer two tiny hands than one but the site is funny. Check it out:  ONE TINY HAND

Should be doing laundry

Its been a crazy last couple of months but thinks are shaping up. Work is really good. Still super busy but I'm working on other things outside of my main client which is fun. One that includes the local zoo and another is the Seattle International Film Fest which I am a big fan of and frequent movie watcher during its annual festival. I met with my new landlord tonight and THANKFULLY after discussing options, she is talking to the corporate office about lowering the proposed lease, and including my little storage unit as part of the cost. Its still an increase BUT I'm so happy to stay, especially with my friend living below me and some changes happening to the building. One change is allowing pets...this means I can have animal visitors! (I don't want to own any) Aside from hanging out with friends as usual and a few uneventful dates here and there, I met someone new and will tell more in due time.

Grade A at the new dentist

Image
I went to a new dentist this morning and my dental hygiene passed with flying colors. A few years ago my dentist retired and passed on all her patients to another. I did NOT like the new dentist she passed us off to. I went to her 3 times and decided she was not the right fit for me. I posted for recommendations on Facebook and after some research, I decided on a dentist that two friends go to. He is just a few blocks from my apartment. He was great and after speaking with him about what my former dentist recommended for my mouth, he assured me that I made the right decision to switch to him. He said I have a great smile and no work is necessary. The former dentist encouraged me to "perfect my smile" and spend $$$ to re-fill my fillings. He told me to wait to refill them for as long as I can hold off. He would recommend work if it was needed for my dental health but not for cosmetic reasons if I'm happy with what I see. THANK YOU Dr. Roberts for not trying to get money

I will probably lose my voice tonight

This photo gives me peace at heart

Cody posted this photo to facebook this evening and it eased my heart. Looks like Aunt Cathy got to town and just like every Wednesday, Faith and Cody brought their kids up. Did Fran shave his head to match his dad's. Pretty nice of him. It looks like everyone is having a nice evening and Uncle Dave is looking mighty badd-ass with the new shaved head. I really love this photo.

I didn't watch the Super Bowl

But I did catch the half time show later online and LOVED Madonna's performance. Like a Prayer would be an amazing song to hear live. The energy must had been insane.

Saturday night

8:36pm Celebrating birth with Aimee before heading over to celebrate with Megan , a photo by Buster Benson on Flickr. This was Buster's 8:36 shot from Saturday night. Kellianne made me a yummy dinner and then Buster and I walked to Megan's birthday party. I wasn't really in the mood for more celebrating after hearing more bad news about Uncle Dave but I'm glad I got to spend some time with the Bensons and then celebrate Megan's birthday with good friends. It truly was a great birthday. Now all thoughts and prayers for a miracle that my Uncle will get better. There is nothing more I want right now than for him to get better. My heart aches for him.

We aren't perfect but we should care more about this issue

Image
You think eating fruit and vegetables are healthy. Do you know the way it is produced could be the cause for most people's allergy problems, such as mine or cause cancer? Its RIDICULOUS that small, family run farms are being pushed out of business due to large farms that are behind this horrible form of agriculture that is affecting more American's health than not. WE ALL NEED TO CARE ABOUT THIS.... Tell Obama to Cease FDA Ties to Monsanto. PLEASE! http://t.co/Sxatr5Wx

Snowapacolypse 2012

Image
Cars could barely make it up the street my apartment faces , a photo by ::: a i m e e ::: on Flickr. We had snow. Lots of it and it was great. Unlike living back east, it was never bitter cold or windy. I had one snow day and then went to work the other two days to an office that was super quiet and not bustling like normal. It rained all weekend so the snow is gone. This week I'm busy planning everything for my 35th birthday party that is being held this upcoming Saturday. I know its a week early but I wanted the people I adore in Seattle to have a great night so I'm inviting them to my favorite dance night called Talcum. Several DJs (and fellow scooter buddies of mine) collect rare soul on 45's. I am using a spare room at the venue that will allow my guest plenty of room to sit and mingle when they aren't on the dance floor. I'll post pictures for sure! Tonight I'm grabbing a zipcar to head to a party store to get some supplies to decor this party room.

A lighter post

This cheered me up today.

Fuck cancer.

Fuck cancer. I don't care who I offend but that is the most powerful way I can express my hatred and anger right now. There is nothing more awful than hearing that this monster is attacking the people you love.

Saturday coffee shop camping

Image
My favorite place to spend on a day off when I need to conquer some personal projects. At home, its easy to get distracted by the tv or wanting a nap. At the coffee shop, I get company of Carinna, Cory and Susie, good tunes (entire David Bowie catalog playing right now!!!!) and good people watching. Cory and Carinna are grading papers and adorable & pregnant Susie is catching up on reading. Such a great way to spend the day. Love it!!!! (Caffe Vita)

2010 was a tough year and 2011 was about healing and growth

Losing loved ones like my grandparents so close together while trying to find a new apartment really messed with my head in 2010. In 2011, I finally started to feel settled into my apartment and really spent the year growing up and finding myself. When Ryan came to town during the summer with one of my favorite bands, The Kills, Allison did an amazing job singing one of my favorite tunes "Last Goodbye." Here is a new portrait video of the band with that song. Mourning and moving was so overwhelming that it took months to heal and recoup. To me, Last Goodbye is an ode to 2010  and 2011 as I have grown so much. The Kills: The Last Goodbye on Nowness.com . I love Allison's crazy stage persona, with the disheveled hair, as shown in this video. I envision that this is how I would be on stage too, singing blues or rock just like her. From spending time behind the scenes with Ryan during the Kills and the Dead Weather tours, I learned she is pretty quiet and much unlike

Thank you sweet Canlis brothers for a great evening.

Thank you sweet Canlis brothers for a great evening. , a photo by ::: a i m e e ::: on Flickr. Monday night, Amanda, Scottie and I used our winning menu at Canlis from a hunt they did on their 61st birthday. Only one menu this year and we got it within 20 minutes of the clue being released. PROFESSIONALS. ha! It was amazing. I totally pegged a couple near us that were probably there to get engaged. Amanda and I kept an eye on them all night. We ended up missing the proposal during a moment that Mark Canlis was having a conversation with us. DARN IT! I wanted to see it happen. Oh well. We had a great view of Lake Union and my favorite tree on the Canlis property. The piano player was again amazing with mixing old and modern hits. The only problem is that my stomach did not know how to handle all the food I took in. I never ate more after I was full but it was a lot of food in a long sitting. Starting with Oysters and Pork Belly. Main course: I opted for the King Salmon since I had the

Cough, Cough, cough

I'm pretty sure I have exactly what my nephew Jake has, not necessarily from him but I have the same allergy and sinus problems and tis the season for colds. I sit in bed right now coughing, remembering how lousy he felt when I was there. Poor little guy. Because I have grown well too familiar with the signs of a sinus cold coming, I immediately started a routine to quickly get better. Sudafed, hot showers and nedi-pot are helping my head and sinuses stay clear and not achy while the Mucinex is clearing out all that yucky mucus. Though I sound horrible with my cough and 1-900-#-sounding voice, I feel a lot better and on the mend. Cough, cough.

Back to it!

New Year's Day spontaneous dinner (for 2nd year in a row) I'm kicking myself for not writing more in 2011. A few family members & friends in PA asked me why I haven't written as much. People actually check this? I do it mostly for family to keep track of my happenings rather than long phone calls. You know what... I decided to post more things here than on Facebook. I feel like things you "post" get lost in Facebook-world.  You can't search your previous post or images on there . It is also why I post more of my photos on Flickr where I can add keywords and names to be easily searched for later. So in this new year, you will see a mix of life updates and interesting things I want to share. My New Year's Eve was great. Carinna reserved a room at The Capitol Club, a bar/restaurant near our apartments. It was a fun night and somehow, after all that champagne I drank, I wasn't hungover.  Below are photos taken by my friend Richard. Photos don'
