Thread Show Success -Recap

Image
I saved this post until I had time to finish writing and add images from the event. I attended this event two weeks ago.... Katie, Leanne and I waited in line at 11am to get into Seattle's Thread show. It was really cool. Red carpet entrance, DJ pumping out beats... a very fun environment to scan the great deals from local and regional designers. We were part of the 1st 250 that got goody bags. Our friend Lisa works for Prairie Underground, a small (3-person run) clothing company that uses organic cotton to make great designs. I bought this super cute hoodie shown below from them. I got it in a dark grayish-brown color. Not only to support their great designs but its sooooo comfy I had to have it!!! The 3 of us got our hair styled by Vain hairstylist. I loved what they did to Leanne's hair. They added simple extensions to Katie's hair to go with her wonder woman t-shirt. However mine, I looked like "a bad morning after. We were in the event for several hours and then

Too many sunsets at the office.

(just got in and its 10:30!) This weekend was insane so I didn't get to write then either. I have some fun things to post about when I get a chance, such as the Thread fashion show and getting a chance to spend time with my long-time Philly buddy Ryan, who was in town for work. As for now, I need to shop for flights home for Christmas. Jenna sent me a super cute one of Marissa today. I promise to write more soon and post more videos of Marissa and Jake.

No Rest for the Wicked

So work has been nuts. Last night was the 1st night in a while that I was out before the sunset. I haven't had time to download my pictures from the Fashion event and write about it in my blog. But I will soon!

Saturdays are Cool in My Book.

This weekend has been a low-key but enjoyable day... so far. Last night I stayed after work for a few hours.... almost 3 hours in fact... playing Guitar Hero with friends from work. YIKES! Afterwards, I met up with a friend for dinner at drinks at Cyclops. NOTE: Mom & Dad, this is that cool little bar – with the big eye down the street from me that we ate at. Kaitlyn, Cheryl and I had a very slow, bad-mood-waiter sort of breakfast when they were in town. After that, I met up with two other friends at the Whiskey Bar for a few drinks. I love that dark watering hole! Today I checked out the "Punk Rock Flea Market." Its cool to see markets and events like this in my neighborhood where local independent artist and crafters can sell their stuff. Not as many vendors as I had hoped but a couple of them were really friendly and we got to talking about crafting and how my sewing machine is sitting on my desk begging me for attention. A couple gals sell their stuff on Etsy. Sweet!

Try this yummy salad.

I highly recommend this yummy salad combination. Spinach Salad Strawberries Rasberry Vinageratte or Rasberry flavored dressing. Sprinkle with goat cheese (mmmm lots of it!) and walnuts (preferbly candied walnuts) Even if you aren't a walnut fan, like me..throw them in there! I obviously didn't take this photo. I stole it from the deli I order this from. I now make it at home cuz its delicious!

I should be sleeping not video-watching.

I should be in bed. I cannot believe I am wasting a post on such a person, but I thought this video was funny. Time for Britney to take a brake from showbiz and go off somewhere with here family to straighten her life out. This was the real, sad performance she gave at the MTV Video Music Awards this past Sunday. Though I am not a fan of "pop" music, I have much respect to those artist (such as Justin Timberlake) who put on choreographed performances. Dance routines are not easy! However you can tell she put no effort into this act. I hope she takes a long time away from the spotlight to focus on her family and her health. Speaking of dancing...though I'm not a fan of Justin Timberlake's music, he is very talented. But he has a chance to be part of my selective music collection for I am a fan of shave heads, funny personalities, classy sexiness, good beats and music that makes my hips start shaking before I realize it. His great dance moves turn me back into a 10 yr,

Super Yummy Cocktail party

Tanya and Claudio Originally uploaded by ::: a i m e e ::: I was Katie's date for Mark and Tanya's cocktail party. They gathered a small group of their friends to enjoy an amazing array of delicious treats. Tanya's best friend Sam selected some amazing appetizer recipes for a cocktail party. Her husband enjoyed all the test runs, in the weeks prior. Tanya and Mark requested people bring certain wines that pair up with a certain plate. Claire made two amazing cakes. I think my favorite was the fig with goat cheese topped with tangerine marmalade and also the arugula with a slide of beet and goat cheese. Y U M M Y! Everything WAS AMAZING! It was a small group of their friends. Great conversations, laughter and a super fun dance party at the end! Click here to see more photos!!! Here are some from Tanya's camera.

I heart art

I met up with some friends (Leanne, Howard, and Seth) to explore the Pioneer Square Art galleries for First Thursday and then later met up with Adriana and her friend for some drinks and dinner. It was a good evening since I am trying to get back into a creative zone/frame-of-mind. My favorite artist of the evening was Ryan Molenkamp . I loved his artwork and the multi-level/multi-studio spot he was in. (Right on Western, just off Yesler.) It reminded me of the Philly studio lofts. I was soooo tempted to purchase one of the following pieces from him. It is 3 blocks from work, so I might pop in there tomorrow...or maybe Monday. Stuck working late...might as well make the most of it.

We MUST finish a project tonight to be released first-thing Eastern Standard Time tomorrow ... so here I am at 9:30pm patiently waiting for final approval or minor edits to finalize the project. There was an hour & 15minutes to kill while waiting for client feedback so I went and grabbed something to eat and practiced Guitar Hero. Oh and I managed to put a twist on a stock photo that I ABSOLUTELY hate... Now you tell me.... who the hell cooks from that position? We all know I am not a natural in the kitchen but come on.... from that distance, how much strength can she actually use, tossing those veggies around without falling forward and burning her arm or face? GET OFF THE PHONE LADY! Get off the counter! This photo REALLY annoys me so I hope you enjoy my re-make. Wow, this chick has a bad hair-do and I do not look good in it! Hmm, but what do you think about the dark hair color? Maybe I'll go dark for fall. Man, I need to go home and go to bed!

Love You, Miss You

Somedays are better than others, especially when you get an email contains a video like this... P.S. Make sure you listen to Marissa when my sister tells Jake to say "What's up." Too cute!

An unknown attraction

As mentioned in my Bumbershoot post, I discovered Chronicle Books , which publishes stationary, journals and other products created by one of my favorite artist, Jill Bliss. As a designer, I am drawn to things with patterns. You will usually find me in the stationary/journal/gift-wrap section of local bookstores to see what cute designs people have created. Today, I was sitting in the coffee shop scanning their catalog and to my surprise, ALL of the stationary and journals I have purchased in the past years is published by Chronicle Books. What a coincidence! (click on thumbnails to see a zoomed in view)

Bumbershoot 2007

2 blocks away from my apartment, at the Seattle Center, Bumbershoot , a 3-day concert/art festival is taking place. The last two times I went, it was HORRIBLE! A lot of bands play, its insanely crowded and in no way you get to see every show because you have to wait in various lines all day. IT SUCKED and it was a let down! So why the heck would I go this year? I wanted to check out FLATSTOCK – a poster/illustration convention that takes place within the festival every year. I also wanted to check out the huge market of independent crafters selling their stuff. I made no effort what-so-ever to see any shows (well except one) and it turned out to be a great day for me. I got into the festival around 2, roamed the poster convention, bought a really cool illustration from a local artist and then met up with my old cube-mate/fellow Philadelphian Charles and his friends at Solo in Queen Anne for a drink. What a great idea since it was a block away, empty and much cheapier than the beer g
