I know, I know.

I haven't blogged in ages, because I've been mostly posting to Flickr but this news is blog worthy.... Last night as I headed home, I was bummed the weekend had quickly come to an end.  At 9:30 my buddy Scottie texted me to tell me Canlis was putting out a clue at 10 to celebrate their 61st birthday. JUST ONE CLUE. That's it. He asked me if I wanted to do it and since I was feeling the Sunday blues I said why not. We were in his car when the clue was posted to FACEbook. It was in latin. We both immediately thought St. James Catholic Church but then our friend Amanda called and said to go to St. Marks because the clue translated into a chant and St. Mark's is well known for its compline service on Sundays . Off we went. We parked nearby and ran up to the church doors. Not knowing if service was still happening Scottie was hesitant to go in. I, growing up so close to the church because of Nana's job and my grandparents tight bond to St. Joe's, I walked right

Music, music, music

I can't stop listening to the new Kills album. Allison, the lead singer is also in White's band the Dead Weather. Though I love the rocking, feisty songs she typically sings, this song is absolutely beautiful.

Mondays are the best when its a day off from work

I took the day off from work today so hopefully I will get around to updating the blog with my happenings. But the weather is gorgeous and I have errands to run so updating will have to wait. (nothing really exciting to share anyway)

Lots of weddings happening

This photographer did a great job capturing Seattle friends' Brett and Lucy personalities and how hard they worked on making this wedding be truly what they represent. They met swing dancing and everything fell into place from there. http://www.nickelimages.com/blog/2011/08/married-brett-and-lucy/ I only met them several months ago so I didn't attend the wedding but wow-oh-wow the photos are GORGEOUS! I'm sharing them here to show how awesome and non-traditional staged photos can be.

A quick check in

VEGAS WAS A BLAST!!!!!! I can't wait to go back! Lounging in the kids-free pool with a cocktail all day with great company was my favorite part. Work is feeling really good right now but we are super busy. Its been a hectic week with a lot on my mind so I'm off to bed but I'll write more soon.

Time for Las Vegas

Image
Hey Vegas Bowlers, bring it! We SPARE NO ONE , a photo by ::: a i m e e ::: on Flickr. Wednesday morning my team and many friends from the bowling league head to Las Vegas until Saturday night. My FIRST TIME! Not sure what to expect. I'm going with a crazy bunch. We are mostly flying together on one alaska airline flight, which will be fun it itself. My friend Carinna who is currently in CA visiting family is meeting us there where we will share a room with two other gals from the league. We are staying at the renovated Golden Nugget in the old section and seeing Weezer play old tunes Friday night. We will surely hit the main strip but I look forward to the little hidden gems that many of my Vegas veterans frequent when they are there rather than the places filled with knuckleheads. Oh I know there will be plenty and amazing people watching. Definitely stoked to check it out with this group of fun people. Wish me luck on roulette.

This was my Sunday.

8:36pm Post Vanishing of the Bees drink at Poquitos with Aimee, raising morale. , a photo by The_April on Flickr. I was craving the guacamole at the local restaurant Poquitos. This was April's 8:30. Prior, we went and saw a documentary called Vanishing Bees. A local food organization sponsored it. I grew up scared of bees. I didn't like them. They buzz around, get in my way and sting! EVIL!!!! No, not evil. Thanks to bees, we have the yummy fruits and veggies available. If bees disappear, we may have to rely on other countries for our produce. Thats sad & ridiculous! We need to step up! This documentary gave me a whole new found love for bees and making me be more strict on where I get the items I eat. The grocery store will always be the cheapest and most convenient but I don't know what is or isn't sprayed with pesticides. Whats REALLY sad and not mentioned in the documentary but you have all these big corporate farms (who wouldn't waste their time at local

My friends can be silly

P1030398 a video by The_April on Flickr. April, Asa, Carinna, Megan, Jim and two of their friends went camping the weekend I was doing Scooter Insanity. While camping at a state park, the saw flyers about a Park concert. They decided to make posters and act like groupies. Not only did they have a blast, the SENIOR BRASS band loved their groupies. The gals with two bands members Signs said: Bass kicks ass Drums - I'd hit that Woodwinds! Blow that wood. So goofy. Something the Galoopers might had thought of.

Its not just Bastille Day

Image
On July 3rd, we had my grandma's funeral service in PA. Soon after, I came back to an apartment that I needed to start packing because I was in the process of moving all while knowing my grandpop would soon be passing and I would be traveling back to PA for his funeral. It was an extremely rough time for me.  A year ago today, friends reminded me that a Bastille Day celebration was taking place at the Corson Building in Georgetown and that even if I wasn't in the spirit, I should go because its going to be a great time. The event was just what this stressed out, broken heart needed. That garden will forever be a special place to me for I spent a lot of time that evening not only enjoying friendship and the event, but also appreciating how lucky I was to have such amazing friends and family with great grandparents. My grandparents were fun people who loved music and social gatherings. So today I celebrate their lives in that magical garden. If you ever happen to go to the build

It's the eve Bastille Day

Image
2010.07.15 Bastille Day , a set on Flickr. Its the eve of one of my favorite days. Not because its Bastille Day, the independence of France, BUT because I get to spend tomorrow afternoon and night inside my favorite garden in Seattle. I absolutely love the smells and ambiance of this magical spot where is one of the locations Bastille Day is celebrated in Seattle. I'm very excited. A car or two of me and friends are leaving work early to carpool down to the event. Last year I got there after work and missed the chicken races that local chef Matt Dillon held. I am not missing anything this year. Excited!!!! If I recall from our Gerritty-May family reunion 10 years ago or so, someone married a French woman AFTER they had a child outside of wedlock. I asked if this made us part French but my grandmom's feisty sisters said that it was nonsense and untrue THOUGH its in our genealogy. So tomorrow I celebrate the French mystery mistress who is hidden in our family roots.
