busy weekend
I was all over Seattle this weekend. Taking the bus is a very peaceful way to learn more about the city you live in because when you are driving - you are focused on the driving, not the interesting architecture and beauty of your surroundings.
Friday night I hung out with a friend.
Saturday I bussed up to Upper Queen Anne to check out Bouncing Wall, a boutique that features local designer/crafters. To my suprise the neighborhood was having a sidewalk sale.
Saturday night I spent doing homework for my own website. I never got into web design and want to get my site up and going so in my spare time I'm learning the nooks and crannies of Dreamweaver, the web design program.
Sunday...ugh exhausting just thinking about it. I wanted to get a few gifts for there are several birthdays coming up. I didn't want to get my sister something from Macys or from anywhere else she can get at home. I bussed over to Ballard to see if there was anything in the boutiques over there. No luck so I went over to Fremont and wondered through the Sunday Market. Success, I found something perfect for my well-deserving sister who never buys things for herself. I then went downtown to get a few more things before heading over to Katies to go for a walk with her and Floyd (her dog.)
My friend/co-worker Katie just moved to my neighborhood. Her boyfriend Eric is a nurse in the navy and is currently stationed in Diego Garcia – a navy base on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. That's far away!!!! Her and her dog moved downtown to experience city life before he moves back and they figure out where to go next.
We ventured through a great park that is along the coast of the Elliott Bay. Its about 6 or 7 blocks from me. Its a scenic park with a little rose garden. Plenty of benches to sit and take in the view. There is even a beach area with driftwood. WA has a lot of driftwood along it's waters. I thought it was weird when I first moved here but now I find it very pretty. Katie and I both agree that the park is the perfect spot for a bottle of wine and dinner with friends. We saw a bunch of roller skaters. YES ROLLERSKATE, not rollerblades. One of the gals skating was our co-worker Amy. She said they are all training for the next Roller Derby tryouts. Roller Derby is big out here. Another co-worker of ours is on the Sockitt Wenches. I know I posted a blog about the first "bout" I attended. Fun sport to watch.
