Getting back into it.

WOLF PACK L-R: Megan, John, Joy, Kim and Sherah
When I was in college, I would frequently hike with friends, mostly in the Delaware Water Gap area along the Appalachian trail. I have lived in the Northwest for almost 7 years and can only count on one hand the amount of hikes I have gone on. Luckily, I have a few friends that have been wanting to get out in the woods also so we started a hiking club called FAT Mouth Wolf Pack. (FAT stands for "foaming at the mouth" since we are all craving the outdoors)

9 of us ventured out to North Bend, WA (where Twin Peaks was filmed) and hiked Little Si. This was the most amount of people I have ever hiked with. It was 2.2 each way. Most of us were totally on the same pace, taking 3 breaks where my friend Megan, the organizer wished it was harder. She might have to join an additional, more advanced hiking club since the less driven members of ours out-number the super energetic younger ones! :) I find no point in rushing up a mountain hike when you may be missing  amazing things along the way. Its easy to miss things when you are focused on the rocks on the ground and where to step when you are hiking on rough terrain. I liked taking the breaks, not just to rest but more importantly take in the surroundings. Our breaks included some yummy cheese, Clif bars and a whiskey flask for some. (I'm not a whiskey fan)

Here is a picture taken by fellow hiker Kim of me, Megan and Joy at the peak of Little Si.

Here is a slideshow of the photos from my phone.

After the hike, we had lunch at the diner featured in Twin Peaks. The original burnt down many years ago by arson so the new layout isn't the same. It was okay. The weather was perfect for the winter hike. In a city like Seattle where the winters are dark and dreary, you really grow to appreciate the sunshine on your face, especially when you are lounging on top of a mountain. We made it back to Seattle by 5 so we have the evening to relax. I liked doing a short hike like that and being able to rest than spending all day hiking & needing the next day to recuperate. It was a good day!
