Hot Weekend Made Me a Hot Mess

This was a hot but nice weekend!
I hung out with friends, roamed the racks at a local record store, had yummy dinners and brunch, saw the end of the Gay Pride Parade in my neighborhood, played Flag Football for Wongdoody and attended a Bean "Date Auction" meeting.

Today Sunday was an extremely hot day! A VERY cute cafe several blocks from me called Boat Street Cafe had the most yummy menu options. My friend Hema and Howard joined me there for brunch today. A little pricey but worth every bite & I loved the atmosphere! I went with the Fig and Goat Cheese salad. HEAVEN!

After brunch while walking back to our apartments, we saw the tail end of the Annual Gay Pride Parade that takes place on 4th avenue, a block from my apartment. I don't care for parades but this one is entertaining. People are dancing, some in drag, some trans-gender, some walking in stilettos and some barely in anything at all. Its fun to watch from the sidelines and its also good to support their choice in lifestyle. Its sad when people think they need to hide that, especially crummy politicians. Why hide your true self when the world is a little more understanding now and has tons of support groups? Here is Hema, Howard and I enjoying the parade. on our walk home from brunch. Photo with my thumbs up.... a bunch of tough looking guys in viking hats, tattoos and shaved heads were walking by...unfortunately not my type since they were gay! One group instead of handing out candy gave us uncooked noodles????

at 5pm I met up with the Tillman twins who thankfully agreed to help our Wongdoody Flag Football team. The sport is actually fun. I like it. Its not too crazy but todays game left me feeling like crap. We ended up having a few guy subs BUT no women subs which meant, I and the other 2 required gals on the field had to play the entire time with one 5-minute break. As you can imagine....I WAS NOT IN A PLEASANT MOOD! It was over 90-degrees, in the sun and I got a headache. I sucked it up and just slowed down instead of over-exerting myself. I'm sure we'll have enough girls in the following games... I hope. Below is our team photo at the 1st game. I was not there and now various co-workers keep coming every week.
Straight from the game, I went to the BEAN meeting. Howard captured these photos of me looking completely spent. I felt COMPLETELY out of my element being out in public all sweaty and in sports gear. But I was meeting up with them for a good cause.

I, along with several friends are being auctioned off for Water 1st. I'll post the Bean event site when Hema and Howard get it going. They are the main organizers for this years new event.

Water 1st’s helps families in the poorest communities in the world as they implement community-managed projects that integrate water supply, sanitation, and health education. Bean, the group I have volunteered through in the past asked us to come up with a date and let them auction us off. Everything is safe and all bidders will be registered with Bean so I don't mind being "pimped out" for a good cause.

Well this chica is off to bed. I miss everyone back home and hope all is well. As you can see, I'm keeping very busy! So busy I'm out of towels and need to do laundry!!! Love you guys!
