Saturdays are Cool in My Book.
This weekend has been a low-key but enjoyable day... so far.
Last night I stayed after work for a few hours.... almost 3 hours in fact... playing Guitar Hero with friends from work. YIKES!
Afterwards, I met up with a friend for dinner at drinks at Cyclops.
NOTE: Mom & Dad, this is that cool little bar – with the big eye down the street from me that we ate at. Kaitlyn, Cheryl and I had a very slow, bad-mood-waiter sort of breakfast when they were in town.
After that, I met up with two other friends at the Whiskey Bar for a few drinks. I love that dark watering hole!
Today I checked out the "Punk Rock Flea Market." Its cool to see markets and events like this in my neighborhood where local independent artist and crafters can sell their stuff. Not as many vendors as I had hoped but a couple of them were really friendly and we got to talking about crafting and how my sewing machine is sitting on my desk begging me for attention. A couple gals sell their stuff on Etsy. Sweet! I want to create more stuff. I just not sure what yet.
One of the vendors I was excited to see....I have seen her jewelry in a local boutique and thought it was such a great concept... metal pendents shaped like hearts...human hearts in black, blue, aqua or red. She has other shapes, such as birds which are popular right now. She carves every piece by hand. I bought one of her smaller heart pendents and look forward to seeing more of her ideas.
I ran some errands and then got to do one of my favorite things.... chat it up on the webcam with the family.
Marissa was really funny today. Putting her face really close to the cam. Almost as if she wanted us to have a one-on-one without everyone hearing. But half the time all I saw was her her head blocked grandpop and Jenna's view. Jake and Marissa are adorable. I need to get home for a long weekend to hang with them.
Now I sit in Uptown Espresso, typing away and plan on working on my website. I don't really need a site since I don't do much freelance anymore, but I'd like a place to showcase my personal projects and portfolio. My problem is that designing for yourself is like trying to cut your own hair! Every time I get around to working on it, I want to come up with a new look & feel.
Tonight, if not working on the site, I will most likely catch up on the book I have been reading with good tunes playing in the background.
Word!
