the weather outside is frightful but a new job is so delightful

While its 70 degrees on the East Coast, its 46 degrees here in Seattle and windy so it feels even colder. But today is a good day because I got a new job!

Since Thanksgiving things have been crazy at work. There were rumors that the company would not have contractors companywide in th new year. I have been there over two years so I didn't know what to think. By the time I left for Christmas I was told the rumor as true, however the good news was that WONGDOODY, the agency that does a lot of T-Mobile's marketing materials would like to interview me. I had wanted to apply for a job there for a while but its a sticky situation since technically they'd be stealing me from their client if they hired me. But when I found out about my contracting coming to an end, fortunately the agency needed more designers full time so I applied.

I was home sick yesterday and informed my WONGDOODY contact that I was home sick in case he was planning on setting up the 2nd interview previously mentioned. Within minutes, he called me to request I check my email. To my surprise there was an email mentioning they'd like me to come on board! Yayyyyy! My fever instantly felt 10x's hotter. So even though I spent my day in bed, the pressure of not knowing was gone and I am truly happy with the outcome.

Today (Saturday) I ran to the bank in the bitter cold. With excitemnent of the new job & new year of opportunities, instead of simply returning to my warm apartment, I took a nice long walk window shopping in the bitter cold.

Life is great. This city is great. I went into Patagonia and bought a little black knit hat to keep my head warm in this wierd NW weather.

I went into an amazing design store called Peter Miller Architecture & Design Books. Its the type you pass every so often but never go in. Today I went in and dived into the amazing collection of design books. I walked out with two books. I always like to buy a few design books at least once a year to refresh myself in the industry.

Now I sip my 2% Irish Creme Latte at Uptown Espressoo while making plans for tonight. A few friends and I are going to see a burlesque show. The gals are always so talented and funny. IT IS NOT STRIPPING. Its "PG-13" creative entertainment. I always like to see which songs thet gals pick to lip sync and perform to and what type of outfits they pick. Its such a comical, entertaining art. I love it.

As I finish this up, I notice my folks online.. How cool is this to be able to iChat with them at the coffee shop via video
