Rat City Rollergirls - I'll remain a spectator

I experienced my 1st Rat City Rollergirls event. The Socket Wenches won the championship. It was a lot of fun.








Roller Derby is when girls circle a rink, 5 from each team try to get their "jammer" with the star on her helmet to loop the track so many times. The "jammer" starts in the back has to work her way through the pack of girls and onces she makes one full lap around after passing the pack, its a point and she continues making points the more laps she can pass the pack with out getting trampled, push aside or blocked.

The other girls on the team have to try to help the jammer get ahead by blocking the other team's players from stopping the jammer and also to make sure the other team's "jammer" doesn't get ahead. Lots on falling, lots of yelling, lots of undies with funny sayings being flashed. There were mascots for the teams and a score girl. Its similar to boxing where a hot girl comes out and shows the score each round, except this girl skates around the rink. Her nickname is called Lucky Whore. All the girls in the league have fun names:
Jo Jo Stilletto, Miss Fortune, Hot Flash, Dirty Little Secret and so forth.
The girls had uniforms but customized them in their own way.

It was a fun time. Our general admission was floor seating so next time will bring a blanket or yoga bolters.

My friends think I would be a cute roller derby girl who would be tiny enough to skate through the pack. I say NO WAY! It looks like an awesome thing to be a part of but I wouldn't look so cute with my butt padded since i already broke my coccyx back in college while "mud sliding." Those chicks fall all the time and no way can my toosh handle that abuse. Besides I think I'm a wimp. I'll remain a spectator thank you!

Its been a while since I posted here. May was an insanely busy but AMAZING. There was the Highline High School fundraiser dinner. I never recalled my high school having fundraisers and since I don't have kids, I told Carinna I would join her for her school's fundraiser auction/dinner. It was fun, I won a bottle of nice wine and 3 of us bid on the "Taste of Highline dinner" where several moms and staff would make meals passed down from their families. We were able to invite up to 10 friends. There was Italian, Somalian, Soul, Mexican, and Hawaiian. There may have been another but I forget. It was sooooo yummy and was hosted at a house that was on Lake Burien. They told us there may be a boat involved. The boat turned out to be a battery operated dock that quietly moved in the water. Summer came and went

Where did the summer go and what did I do. SOOOOO much. It was a great summer. I only ended up camping once but it was a good one. I went to PARIS! Which was gorgeous, romantic, rich in foods and simply breathtaking.  I wish I had time to post highlights of my summer but I can only suggest to check out all my photos since May on Flickr. It was a good summer in Seattle.
