Farmers market is great cooking motivation.

I ventured over to the neighborhood farmer's market this morning. You don't get the grocery store deals but I love supporting the locals and shopped wisely. I bought some things there and then headed to the grocery store later.

At the market, I was really impressed with the potato and tomato varieties compared to the typical ones at the grocery store. One thing I loved was how vendors had a description under each of the varieties just like a wine store would. The tomatoes I bought read "similar to the jersey tomato." They nailed it! It was the best tomato I have had out here. I wish I bought more because tonight one tasted perfect with a little french dressing. The fresh lemonade and run in with friends was a nice way to kick off the day.

The $5 mixed bouquet ended up in 3 vases at home. The herbs are an experiment. I like using parsley, cilantro and basil so for $7 I bought the 3 plants, picked up soil and planted them in pots when I got home. I'm going to try really hard to keep these gals alive. Plus they look really pretty on the windowsill.

Wish me luck. I manage to kill bamboo which is pretty much impossible.
