As many family members know, I am not a fan of parades however I was interested in checking out Fremont's annual parade at least once because it focuses on doing good for the environment, is created by local creative people and the rumors of naked people on bikes. (now who wouldn't think that was interesting?)

It was a nice parade. I met up with my friend Karin there. I didn't know what all the costumes or themes were but it was coo. After the parade it was crazy because there was soooo many people. We walked to gasworks park, but as the crowds filled in we decided to try to get a bite to eat. A bite to eat in the small town, during the solstice festival....fat chance! So I said my goodbyes to friends and headed to my friend's photo opening in downtown Seattle. It was much easier grabbing lunch from the salad bar at whole foods that the 2 hour wait at any restaurant in Fremont.

It was a nice breezy day. I went to Dan's photo opening at a local coffee shop and hung out there for a few hours with a few friends. Tara, Tom and I then went to Paddy Coynes for a bite to eat. It has come to be one of my staple places to venture too when nothing else seems right. Sitting by the fire felt great since I was wearing a summer dress in what turned out to be a chilly night.

I haven't written as much in the blog since I've been busy making the most out of this amazing city. I should be keeping track of the fun on here but time flies by and before you know it, its on to the next thing.

Prior to going to Philly for a week, I met up with Darby and his best friend Andrew for lunch. Oh... this lunch also included Darby's new girlfriend, Shannon. She was very nice, smart and so loving towards Darby. I am truly happy for him. I give her major credit for agreeing to having lunch with the ex-girlfriend. The ex of 5 years!. I met with them because I wanted to see Andrew during his visit to Seattle. I will always love Darby and I am honestly over the situation but I learned a huge lesson.... NEVER have lunch with the ex and the new girlfriend!!!! NEVER! It was a nice lunch but by nerves were shot. I couldn't eat as I sat there seeing him unbelievably happy with a girl who called him sweety and honey every other sentence. They are truly in love. Like I said, I am over the situation, have moved on ...but it reminded me of what lacked in the relationship and what I couldn't do. I did not put a smile on his face like she was able to. He wanted to bring leftovers in the car for a roadtrip and she somehow convinced him otherwise so easily, where as if I was in her shoes - we probably would have debated for about a half hour and the food would be in the car like he wanted. We just were not right together. We did not balance eachother well. He is a great guy and I will always cherish what we had. We grew up together and shared a lot of great moments.Though things could not work out with us, I am happy he has someone like Shannon in his life. My nerves were a mess because the experience was surreal. I was enjoying learning about the girl who Darby has been talking about and hearing what Andrew has been up to. But the Darby I knew was not sitting across the table. It just felt like a stranger was sitting across from me. I talked mostly to Andrew and Shannon. I think Shannon is great for Darbs and I wish him the best.

Hmm on a happier note, we had a "Wig, Wine and Cheese" gathering at work. My friend Katie is MUCH taller than me so it was funny when we had similar wigs on. I love WONGDOODY. I am learning a lot since I'm getting to collaborate with other designers and its a creative, fun environment.
